I wasn't involved in drafting this letter but I fully share these concerns, and, having received this from a substack blog I subscribe to, I am passing it along.
One subscriber said I should be more concerned about antisemitism at some top US universities and the waffling answers by three University presidents about whether calls for genocide against Jews would violate their rules against bullying and harassment. I am concerned about both. Since I publish on Substack, I felt this was relevant to me and I might have some influence. I have lots of opinions about events in the US, the middle east and elsewhere, but I don't think these are appropriate to a blog devoted mainly to the Japanese economy.
Yes you're right - why does being concerned about A mean you can't comment on B, especially when B is more relevant to you?
